Requests such as “we need a 24V actuator” or “we need a 600mm stroke” rarely provide enough information for safe, accurate selection. Actuator force, stroke and mounting position are closely connected to the window geometry. Complete project information reduces the risk of bracket changes, insufficient opening or equipment replacement later.
1. Window type and opening direction
Identify whether the window is top-hung, bottom-hung, side-hung, casement, a rooflight or another design. State whether it opens inward or outward and provide a profile or section drawing. Hinge position and opening direction change the actuator load and mounting arrangement.
2. Sash dimensions and weight
Provide the sash width, height, frame material, glazing specification and accurate weight where possible. A wide sash may need synchronized dual or multi-actuator operation to distribute force and prevent twisting.
3. Required opening
State the required actuator stroke, opening angle or clear opening required by the fire strategy. If only the angle is known, a window section drawing helps determine the installation point and effective actuator travel. Too little stroke may not achieve the design opening; excessive stroke can cause interference.
4. Load and environment
External façade windows and rooflights may be affected by wind, rain, temperature and mounting orientation. Compact chain actuators suit many standard window arrangements. Rigid spindle actuators provide a higher force range for heavier or more demanding applications.
5. Electrical and control requirements
Confirm the operating voltage, quantity per zone, fire-alarm connection, daily-ventilation requirement, manual controls and fault feedback. The TDKCQ smoke exhaust linkage control box accepts 230V AC mains input and provides 24V DC actuator output with fire-signal priority, manual controls and status indication. Capacity must be configured for connected actuator current and simultaneous operation.
6. Location and compliance
Fire-safety, power-supply, backup-power, cable and certification requirements vary by location and building type. Include the project country or region, applicable standards and consultant requirements. Confirm the complete technical configuration before ordering.
