In an automatic smoke vent system, the actuator produces the mechanical movement while the smoke exhaust linkage control box receives signals, distributes power and applies the operating logic. Correct matching between the two is essential for dependable switching between everyday ventilation and emergency smoke exhaust.
Power and fire-alarm connection
The TDKCQ smoke exhaust linkage control box accepts 230V AC mains input and provides stable 24V DC output for compatible chain or spindle actuators. It can receive a signal from the building fire-alarm system. When a fire input is received, fire-alarm priority overrides ordinary manual commands and opens the assigned smoke vents.
Terminal allocation, wiring and the final cause-and-effect sequence must follow the selected control-panel documentation, project electrical drawings and approved fire strategy.
Manual operation and status information
In addition to automatic fire linkage, the control box supports Open, Stop, Close and Reset manual commands. These functions can support everyday natural ventilation, commissioning and maintenance. Power, fire input, fault and operating-status indicators make the current system condition easier to identify. Fault feedback can also be returned to the central fire-alarm system.
Controlling multiple actuators
A control panel can be configured to operate multiple compatible 24V DC chain or spindle actuators. Panel selection should total the operating current of every actuator that may run simultaneously, account for the zoning plan and consider cable distance. Selecting by window quantity alone is unreliable because different actuator models can have different current requirements.
System details to confirm
The design team should confirm backup-power requirements, fire-resistant cabling, weather sensors, ventilation switches, building-management-system interfaces and window-position feedback where required. If a fire signal conflicts with weather or ventilation controls, the agreed fire-priority logic must apply. Every operating sequence should be verified during commissioning and recorded.
To configure a TDKCQ control box, provide the actuator models, quantity, current demand, grouping plan, cable information, fire-alarm interface and required inputs and outputs. Confirm final capacity, terminals, enclosure, backup power and project certifications before specification or purchase.
